Pitch a story
United Cinema Stories welcomes thoughtful pitches about film storytelling, shared viewing, screening customs and the conversations films leave behind. A useful proposal begins with a precise question and gives readers a reason to look again.
What to pitch
We are interested in clear, original pieces with a distinct angle: a comparison between two ways to arrange a film night, an explanation of a storytelling choice, a piece of screen history or a set of discussion prompts tied to a particular kind of viewing. Pitches should fit a general readership and avoid relying on access, private information or claims that cannot be checked.
What makes a strong proposal
Tell us the central idea, why it matters to film viewers and how the piece will develop it. Name any films or examples you plan to discuss, explain what is distinctive about your approach and flag any sources or permissions the proposal would depend on. A focused pitch is more useful than a broad promise to write about cinema.
Sending a pitch
Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. Include a short outline and a brief description of your relevant experience if it helps explain the approach. Do not send confidential material or assume that a pitch has been accepted until a response confirms it.
